It is our last week in Penang and we still have a few boxes to tick. One box I am trying to organise is a fab dinner in Georgetown for our last night. I was diligently ploughing through TripAdvisor’s best thoughts on the matter without success . My first choice was booked for a wedding and my second choice actually sounded a better lunch option. Then inspiration came to me. Why not have a posh midweek lunch to sustain us whilst I carry on with my dinner search?
And so today we tripped into Georgetown for lunch at Indigo, the very beautiful restaurant on the first floor of the historic Blue Mansion. A quick potted history, The Blue Mansion was built in the late 19th Century as an exquisite family home by Cheong Fatt Tze in traditional Chinese style. Today after carefully restoration it is a boutique hotel and restaurant. You can, for a price, do a guided tour of the public parts or if you come to lunch you can wander around for free (plus the cost of lunch of course!).
Our posh lunch was a three course affair. We did the full embarrassing photographing our food thing, except where the Lemongrass Creme Brûlée was concerned. We both dived in, then remembered the camera – sorry about that!
Our three course lunch with tea and coffee and attentive service in beautiful surroundings cost just 65RM (AUD$22) each!
So there is plenty of dosh still left for our final fab dinner!
