“We are only going there once. Can’t we do it nicely!”
At each stage of the development of our Croatian Itinerary, this was Suzannah’s battle cry to persuade me to spend more money. Sometimes she won. Sometimes I managed to keep the budget vaguely under control.
There are 16 places to stay, 8 ferries, 4 flights, 2 car hires, 2 trains and a bus that made it to the final version of our Croatian Itinerary. Add to that all the places that did not quite make it to the final cut and all the ferries that just don’t run in September, and you will start to understand what has been our focus of attention for the last few days.
As politicians are fond of saying “We had a full and frank discussion on every single piece of it!”
We have found some amazing places, but our favourite booking is an AirBnB near Kotor (Montenegro). On AirBnB you quite often get a little welcome message when you book. His said “At last, some Queenslanders. We have been getting a lot of Victorians and we were starting to worry that it might be effecting our reputation.” It turns out that our host used to live near Townsville. We are looking forward to swapping a few stories already.
So, where are we going? Here is a very quick list;
Vienna, Graz, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes, Vis, Vela Luka, Ubli, Korcula, Dubrovnik, Mostar, Kotor, Sobra, Milna, Split, Venice and on to the UK.
It all starts on 19th August when we fly out of Brisbane with Thai Airways and finishes with a housesit near Exeter for a couple of weeks to catch our breath.
