We left our beautiful Vienna this morning bound for Graz in southern Austria. Today’s mode of transport is train and like all things Austrian it is fast, efficient and clean. Our journey is two and a half hours and whilst I had thought I would sleep the scenery wouldn’t let me. The one time I close my eyes, James spots a castle from the other window! That was the end of sleep for me.
In Graz we are staying in an AirBnB in a typical old Austrian gem of a building. Quite clearly we are in the absence son’s apartment. And decorated shall I say with all the family hand-me-downs. Wonderful set of saucepans, shame there is only a microwave, sort of arrangement. But for two nights we can manage (mind you I am looking forward to Mr Arkle’s language when he attempts the shower). But so long as the fridge can chill my bottle of Prosecco we’re good.
What we have seen on our first explore of Graz is promising. We are on the doorstep to the large central park and old town so we will do some research tonight and hatch a plan over a glass of chilled Prosecco.
